TALLULAH GORGE

Tallulah Gorge is narrow, only about a quarter of a mile wide. But the gorge cliffs drop 1200 feet from top to bottom! If you look closely at this photo, you can see the full-grown evergreen trees growing out of the cliff face, and, at the top of the cliff, the fence that keeps visitors from falling off the overlook edge.

The Hurricane Falls stairs—over 500 steps long—lead from the top of the gorge to the Tallulah River at the bottom.

Looking straight down from one of the overlooks at the cliff edge. The overlooks provide spectacular views of the gorge and the river.

On the bank of the Tallulah River, looking upstream.
